A big part of what we do at BOH is provide food for those who need it, as well as clothes, shoes, kitchen supplies, bedding and furniture. We try and get as much free food as possible, but even the food banks are affected by the economic times we are in. They are having to raise their prices as well. For example, all snacks (crackers, granola bars, etc.) have been free, but, beginning this year, the price will be $0.18 per pound. That does not sound like much, but when you are buying for 200 families a week, it adds up greatly. Produce is free, which we get as much as possible. This is very important because it is expensive for people to buy. A typical Saturday we will provide potatoes, onions, apples, and oranges. Sometimes we have roma tomatoes and bell peppers as well. Dry goods are cereal, pasta, rice , granola bars, instant breakfast, peanut butter and any other smart buys we can find.
We want to continue to be a light in City Heights. To continue to bless and provide for the poor. If this is something you want to know more about or would like to partner with us, please let us know. It would be a blessing to have you come down to Bridge of Hope and see what we do and meet the people we serve.
